General Manager - Stafford

Role Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, dynamic General Manager to join us, leading our Screwfix contract on the Stafford campus. The Stafford campus employes over 1300 staff members, and covers over 500,000 square foot of warehouse space.

This role would suit a General Manager with a great deal of experience heading up large distribution sites. 3PL experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Contract Account Plans to achieve customer retention/satisfaction, contract expansion, deliver profit (YOY) and margin growth

  • Develop both your and the Company’s understanding of the Customer’s supply chain in order to maximize business opportunities

  • Build, develop and maintain site based enabler plans that support the delivery of the Business Unit portfolio Business Strategy which includes both organic growth and new products

  • Build robust working relationships with all key stakeholders to ensure first class operational performance which results in long term strategic partnership contracts

  • Responsible for the delivery of all contractual KPI’s and budget requirements across the contract

  • Deliver a culture of efficiency and continuous improvement by utilising the most appropriate methodology on a consistent basis

  • Ensure that a best in class HSE performance is achieved within the Account and that a culture of safety in everything we do is embedded

  • Ensure that a high performance culture is developed and maintained across the Account through the site Leadership teams, to deliver operational excellence and continuously meet performance and productivity targets on a day to day basis

  • Ensure the best talent is in place to deliver business objectives and deliver a robust succession plan for current and future key roles

  • Build a useful network of external contacts to support business growth and ensure exposure to best practice

Experience and Qualifications

  • You must be able to demonstrate senior management experience at GM level within a high volume warehouse and transport operation.

  • You must have been responsible for the leadership and development of a management team ensuring that they are engaged and motivated to achieve their personal goals and the KPIs of the contract.

  • You must have the interpersonal skills to be able to establish effective communication channels with employees ensuring that they are well informed about the site and the wider business of both Wincanton and the customer.

  • You will have experience of negotiating change within a heavily unionised environment and have great influential skills.

  • You will have experience of working closely with clients and developing effective working relationships

  • You must be able to demonstrate the ability to provide the budgetary and financial controls and be able to operate effectively in an ”Open Book” environment involving regular detailed and comprehensive customer reviews.

  • You should be able to demonstrate skills in the delivery continuous improvement initiatives using lean processes.
